It’s official. As much as I adore heels, I run up and down stairs too much at work for heels to be as comfortable as they once were. So I’ve been re-vamping my flats collection and looking at mid-heels (a height I never thought I would be comfortable with) as alternatives.
When looking at flats, I right away go to my trusted Sam Edelman. My much-beloved leopard flats have lasted for over three years so I don’t mind investing a few dollars in getting another pair or two. These rose gold pair are fantastic to dress up an outfit without any real effort and they go with so much! They make choosing flats over heels a little more bearable. Now, what other colors to buy?!
Much love,
Mel

Greetings friends!
Don’t Monday holidays sometimes feel like a mixed-blessing? Sure, it makes Sunday that more relaxing-knowing you have an extra day to play around, but then there’s Tuesday. Man, oh man, Tuesdays are just like a superstorm of Monday and Tuesday’s crazy combined! Good for you if you can make it through a post-holiday Tuesday without channeling your happy place at least once.
This past Monday, the hubs and I took a slight roadtrip to Toronto. We have family there that we wanted to see, and of course run a few errands and try a new brewery. On our way there we stopped at one of my favorite towns, Niagara-on-the-Lake. I went there for the first time on my 16th birthday with my mom and from that point, it has held a special place in my heart.
Since it’s one of my happy places, it felt only natural to wear one of my new happy tanks from Anthropologie. This has special meaning as my hubs bought it for me as a “Congrats on the New Job” gift, so it’s double the happiness.
Do you have something that you wear that makes you happy???
Much love,
Mel

Oh Thank God, it’s almost the weekend!
As much as I love wearing heels, I am not one of those fashion people who feels the need to wear them for doing little things like running errands. Especially if I’m styling for a client and running from store to store. There is a time and a place for fashion over function and I choose my battles carefully. So when I know that I am going to be making returns and scouting new items for clients, I go with something stylish but comfortable-like you see here. It’s the key to all shopping really. Wear an outfit and shoes that you will be able to last long in, otherwise poor decisions will be made or nothing will get done in an effort to just get home and change into comfy clothes. It’s the same philosophy that I held even in my corporate days-I could wear heels all day in the office but kept a pair of flats in a drawer in case a lunch walk or a quick trip to the mall was planned. Nobody wants to see someone hobbling along cause their shoes are not right for the situation.
And that, my friends, is my life advice for you today. 😉
Much love,
Mel

Blah, Blah, Blah…that’s normally what I’m hearing if someone tries to speak to me prior to my morning cup of coffee. I’m not a morning person-at all, so I definitely need some caffeine in my system before I can fully comprehend anything that you may be trying to say to me.
So when I saw this shirt at Banana Republic, I thought what a fun piece it would be to wear! T-shirts are always a necessity and there is nothing wrong with dressing them up with a fun statement necklace, as I’ve done here.
Now if you will excuse me, I’m gonna hunt down some coffee so I know that I can make it through the rest of the day. 😉
Much love,
Mel

So Sunday found us in Central Park enjoying a beautiful NY sunny day. As you can see I don’t tend to stray far from my standard colors, so yes I am wearing an oversized blue sweater under my green coat!
Every time I’ve been to Central Park, I swear it’s to a new section. Usually I’ve done the less populated areas but this time we went past the ice rink and the Zoo! Something new every time I go!
Much love,
Mel

One of the perks of moving to New York State is that we are really not that far away from New York City. It’s a six hour drive from where we live currently, but if you have ever lived in California, you know that six hours really isn’t that bad. And of course if you’ve driven cross country numerous times, as in the case of my husband and I, six hours is nothing.
My husband’s aunt and cousin were visiting the city from California and so off we went to spend time with them while we were once again in the same state. It’s been a while since I’ve seen the City at Christmas time, and my husband has never had the pleasure so it was a great weekend bumming around NYC.
Here I am at Highline Park-an old elevated rail line that is now a park that runs a considerable distance on the West Side. It was absolutely beautiful, if not very chilly since it was close to the water. Layers were an absolute must!
Much love,
Mel
