Hello strangers!
I’ll be honest-with summer in full effect and our friends visiting last weekend from San Diego, I haven’t really set aside any time for blog pics. There’s just have been other interests that has made me abandon my blogging responsibilities these past few weeks. But I haven’t forgotten! I’m back and actually feeling reenergized in my blogging responsibilities.
With that said, my friend and I found this amazing skirt doing one of our shopping crawls through my neighborhood. We used to do them in San Diego and it was a great way to spend some girl time and also see the stores that are around me here. I love the length and just the shape of the skirt, and of course it’s blue and white striped so you can’t go wrong with a classic print. I paired it with this red and blue top for a mixed print, stylish look I love. Its going to be my go-to outfit for our anniversary dinner next week with friends! August is going to have a lot going on for us-it starts with our 11 year wedding anniversary, my 37th (wth?!) birthday, our 1st year anniversary as Buffalonians, and my hubs starts his second year of graduate school. Just a few more years left before he’s done with classes and our next adventure TBD begins. Crazinesss!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
Much love,
Mel

Hello!
So today a great thing is happening, our friends arrive today from San Diego!!! Are you noticing the overuse of exclamation marks? That’s because I want you to feel how excited I am. 🙂
As I mentioned previously, we have a whole agenda planned for their stay in Buffalo, and one of the fun things we are doing is heading to see a Bisons game on Friday night. We then are planning on taking them to one of our favorite neighborhood haunts for some good old-fashioned Buffalo chicken wings. Because it’s Buffalo, obvi, and how do you NOT have chicken wings while here?!
So I wanted my outfit to be cute and stylish but also give me some room to power down all the food I will be shoveling into my mouth during the game and after. This flowy top and my new comfy jeans from Madewell fit the bill. The only thing that may change is my shoes cause I know that we will be doing a lot of walking…to the concession stand to the OTHER concession stand…to the bar… You get the point. 😉
Much love,
Mel

Happy Friday!!
As you may have already noticed, I’m a big fan of this Anthropologie skirt I received last Christmas. Yes, I know that it’s cream so it’s easy to pair anyway, but I love putting more and more of my closet with it, like this floral top I’ve had for a few years by Boden. It’s amazing to watch how people who deal with seasons adjust their wardrobes accordingly. In the winter, dark colors really took over for the majority of the time but whether the snow was melted or not, by March you would see flashes of color start to emerge. I could technically wear this top in the winter with a cardigan, but as I mentioned, florals seem so out of place, so I’m glad that I have found another pairing for it for the summer besides jeans.
Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
Much love,
Mel

Greetings friends!
Don’t Monday holidays sometimes feel like a mixed-blessing? Sure, it makes Sunday that more relaxing-knowing you have an extra day to play around, but then there’s Tuesday. Man, oh man, Tuesdays are just like a superstorm of Monday and Tuesday’s crazy combined! Good for you if you can make it through a post-holiday Tuesday without channeling your happy place at least once.
This past Monday, the hubs and I took a slight roadtrip to Toronto. We have family there that we wanted to see, and of course run a few errands and try a new brewery. On our way there we stopped at one of my favorite towns, Niagara-on-the-Lake. I went there for the first time on my 16th birthday with my mom and from that point, it has held a special place in my heart.
Since it’s one of my happy places, it felt only natural to wear one of my new happy tanks from Anthropologie. This has special meaning as my hubs bought it for me as a “Congrats on the New Job” gift, so it’s double the happiness.
Do you have something that you wear that makes you happy???
Much love,
Mel

Happy Memorial Day! *If you haven’t done so already-make sure you take the time today to remember all those in the military who died protecting us and our freedom.*
Hi folks! This weekend, like most of our weekends since the weather has been warmer, has been action-packed. On Sunday, my hubs ran his second half-marathon and nailed it. Besting his first time by 10 minutes. I’m so proud of him and yet still have no desire to join him for this running thing. 🙂
While he still had the ability to move, we went to one of our favorite breweries around town, Hamburg Brewery. The brewery itself is an old barn turned into a fantastic place for a bite and brew in front of their massive stone fireplace during the colder months. The summer months they have this amazing patio with a pond and a fountain that just makes it so relaxing. Since the sun was shining and we refuse to be indoors during the warmer months, we found ourselves out on their patio watching the coy swim around, while we both enjoyed a beer.
As we were leaving, we decided to take some pics of the outfit I had on that day. It was just too pretty out to pass on the opportunity, despite only having our phones with us. Sometimes you just have to seize the day!
Enjoy your extra day off!
Much love,
Mel

Good Morning! Or in my language, “Need coffee, stat!”
Every woman should have a couple of outfits bookmarked for those impromptu invitations. The ones that happen via text at 4pm, right before the end of the day, asking if you have any plans and can you meet up? Most likely (or maybe just in my world) I’m going to want to change out of work clothes before heading back out. So this is one of my new impromptu outfits. It’s comfy, yet I feel put together when wearing it. I stick to one of my surefire colors, blue, then add pops of pink for color. Throw on some bangles and I’m at the bar before my body can process that we’re not home on the couch zoning out. 😉
Hope everyone survives Monday!
Much love,
Mel

Hello again!! I’m so excited to be back after taking the last week off to test out my new schedule. It was crazy but I’m slowly getting back into the swing of working full-time and balancing my own business.
I’m also THRILLED about the weather here in Buffalo. It was 80 degrees this past weekend. 80 FREAKING DEGREES!!!! After the abomination that was last winter, I will never take the warm weather for granted again. I was sweating wearing this outfit, and loving it. We spent so, so many days dealing with frigid temps and trying not to slip on the ice when taking blog pics, to just walk out of the house and be too warm? Blissful.
This is an outfit that I just threw together and will be wearing when the proper Spring temps come back. I love the relaxed yet stylish look and feel of it. A spring weather repeat.
Hope everyone enjoys (or has access to a coffee machine) their Monday!
Much love,
Mel
PS-I forgot my sunglasses so excuse my squinty eye look. Too busy concentrating on not falling backwards! 🙂

Happy Wednesday!
While I haven’t been able to shake this viral infection that took over from my earlier flu, I have been able to shake off some of those pesky cold weather layers. Like closed toe shoes and socks. Well, not completely, but more frequently. The other day I wore flip flops for the first time since last October. Trust me, when you’ve lived on the west coast for a while, flip flops are second nature-the perma flip flop tan just etched onto your skin. Like many “firsts” that I have experienced this year since moving to Buffalo, having to re-introduce my feet to sandals and flip flips is on the list.
The warm weather is coming home to Buffalo, and you know what? Feels good, man, feels good.
Much love,
Mel

After five years, today is my final day in academic publishing. It’s a totally surreal feeling to know that starting tomorrow I won’t have a steady paycheck coming in for a while and that this was my last job in San Diego. Part of the new adventure of relocating is also trying to make my styling business come alive and work, so I’m excited and super nervous about it. It’s also surreal to think that this starts the long list of goodbyes as our departure for the east coast becomes more immenient.
So, because it is my last day, I decided to go a little more casual than normally I would. I’m wearing my new favorite jeans: DL1961’s Florence. They are part of their new Instasculpt line that conforms to your body. Great for us curvier girls who need a little more elasticity in their jeans. And one of my favorite tops-there’s something about hearts on clothing that makes me really happy.
Hope everyone is having a fantastic Thursday!
Much love,
Mel
