Hi Friends!

So one of the best early birthday gifts I am getting this year is that one of our favorite couples from San Diego are coming to visit us later this week. The hubs and I are so excited to be able to do some hosting and entertaining. Although we have started to make our lives here in Buffalo (yes, I know it HAS been almost a year), it just hasn’t felt the same. The usual suspects who have been a part of our lives for so long aren’t around and so it hasn’t really felt completely like home for us. The next few months will hopefully change that as we start to host more people from CA to our new neck of the woods.

Of course, living in Buffalo one of the main requests is that we go to Niagara Falls-something that the hubs and I have failed to do since our arrival here. So we are planning our touristy trek to one of the natural wonders of the world later this week, and of course, I wouldn’t be a good fashionista if I didn’t already have a plan as to what I’m wearing. Since its been warm and we are planning on doing dinner while up in Canada, I decided my casual yet stylish pleated skirt was a must. My cream tank and denim jacket (for when the sun goes down) are the perfect toppers to take me sightseeing and back.

It’s going to be a good week-I can feel it.

Much love,

Mel

Hello friends!

Sorry for the delay-too busy eating and enjoying our way through California! I bought this dress on a whim while visiting my old motherland, Nordstrom. 😉 It’s my perfect traveling and strolling through our old haunts dress. We’re currently staying in the central valley of California so that means HOT. Ridiculously hot 100 degree temps so this dress and its lightness are perfect for this type of weather.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful Wednesday!

Much love,

Mel

Happy Friday!!

As you may have already noticed, I’m a big fan of this Anthropologie skirt I received last Christmas. Yes, I know that it’s cream so it’s easy to pair anyway, but I love putting more and more of my closet with it, like this floral top I’ve had for a few years by Boden. It’s amazing to watch how people who deal with seasons adjust their wardrobes accordingly. In the winter, dark colors really took over for the majority of the time but whether the snow was melted or not, by March you would see flashes of color start to emerge. I could technically wear this top in the winter with a cardigan, but as I mentioned, florals seem so out of place, so I’m glad that I have found another pairing for it for the summer besides jeans.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Much love,

Mel

Happy Thursday Everyone!

One of my goals as a wardrobe stylist is to ensure that every piece in my clients wardrobe evokes a feeling of confidence and empowerment. I mean, in a perfect world pajamas would make every one of us proactive and confident, and who knows, if you’re someone who can take on the world wearing pjs, then kudos! But for the majority, the only thing that pajamas makes us confident of is that the couch or bed are in our immediate future. And maybe some Netflix bingewatching to feel like we’ve done SOMETHING with our day. 😉

Every time I wear this lace pencil skirt, I feel that sense of empowerment. I know I’m damn good at what I do and I have the confidence to move forward, in both aspects of my professional career. Hopefully you have something that evokes confidence in you too, if not, best get to shopping.

Much love,

Mel

Greetings friends!

Don’t Monday holidays sometimes feel like a mixed-blessing? Sure, it makes Sunday that more relaxing-knowing you have an extra day to play around, but then there’s Tuesday. Man, oh man, Tuesdays are just like a superstorm of Monday and Tuesday’s crazy combined! Good for you if you can make it through a post-holiday Tuesday without channeling your happy place at least once.

This past Monday, the hubs and I took a slight roadtrip to Toronto. We have family there that we wanted to see, and of course run a few errands and try a new brewery. On our way there we stopped at one of my favorite towns, Niagara-on-the-Lake. I went there for the first time on my 16th birthday with my mom and from that point, it has held a special place in my heart.

Since it’s one of my happy places, it felt only natural to wear one of my new happy tanks from Anthropologie. This has special meaning as my hubs bought it for me as a “Congrats on the New Job” gift, so it’s double the happiness.

Do you have something that you wear that makes you happy???

Much love,

Mel

Happy Memorial Day! *If you haven’t done so already-make sure you take the time today to remember all those in the military who died protecting us and our freedom.*

Hi folks! This weekend, like most of our weekends since the weather has been warmer, has been action-packed. On Sunday, my hubs ran his second half-marathon and nailed it. Besting his first time by 10 minutes. I’m so proud of him and yet still have no desire to join him for this running thing. 🙂

While he still had the ability to move, we went to one of our favorite breweries around town, Hamburg Brewery. The brewery itself is an old barn turned into a fantastic place for a bite and brew in front of their massive stone fireplace during the colder months. The summer months they have this amazing patio with a pond and a fountain that just makes it so relaxing. Since the sun was shining and we refuse to be indoors during the warmer months, we found ourselves out on their patio watching the coy swim around, while we both enjoyed a beer.

As we were leaving, we decided to take some pics of the outfit I had on that day. It was just too pretty out to pass on the opportunity, despite only having our phones with us. Sometimes you just have to seize the day!

Enjoy your extra day off!

Much love,

Mel

Good morning!

One of the great things about taking a chance at outlet shops is the random amazing deals you can score, which is why for my styling clients, I always make a trip just to see what things I can find to help them look great and stay within their budgets. On my last trip there, I wasn’t able to find anything for my client, but I did pick up this fun mint cardigan for me-a stylist’s perk, of course! It was only $13 bucks which makes my wallet happy and it’s a perfect green for the Spring/Summer season.

So as a result, this is one of my new favorite outfits for Spring. Although I love wearing skirts or dresses, sometimes the weather is just more appropriate for jeans. I throw on this outfit to keep my Spring spirits high, but my body a little warmer, and really who doesn’t love the simplicity of jeans, a shirt, and a cardigan?

Have a wonderful Monday!

Much love,

Mel

Happy Wednesday!

I hope that your day is faring better than mine-stuck in bed with the flu. On the plus side, I can catch up with the huge stack of magazines by my bed, in between my power naps, but this was the absolute worst week for me to get ill, so I’m allowing one day to stay in bed and do nothing, and then it’s time to rally.

So here I am last weekend-basking in the warmth of the sun. I swear to God, I will never take the warm weather for granted again! The outfit is simplistic enough-and a great excuse to wear my leopard heels, but I really love my jewelry. It’s part of the Rebel collection for Stella & Dot. This is perfect for people who don’t feel like statement necklaces or rings are really them, but still want their accessories to be noticeable.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, friends! Time for a nyquil-induced nap over here. Don’t be jealous. 😉

Much love,

Mel

April? Is that really you?!

Despite the fact that I have been hibernating for the first few months, this year is already going by crazy fast. We have a little over two months until we head back to California for our first visit since our move last August. Am I excited? Well, let’s just say I already have my outfits chosen and all of our plans have already been soldified with our friends. So yeah, I’m a little bit excited. My husband has been dreaming about our favorite spots on the Central Coast so I think he’s a little excited too! 😉

But we are also excited about Spring and Summer in Buffalo. It’s still not warm but there is a renewed energy in the city, as if people are just happy that we have made it through arguably one of the worst winters on record. Actually I think it IS the worst winter on record. We live in one of the best neighborhoods in the city and we are just dying to start walking more of the hood and entertaining on our patio, once again surrounded by flowers and trees.

So in honor of this feeling of renewal, I have been slowly (it is still 38 degrees after all) been busting out my Spring favorites, including my pretty lavender sweater. I paired it with my black moto jacket, which always makes me feel kind of sassy, and my favorite bootcut jeans and leopard heels.

Come on, Spring, this is our time to shine!

Much love,

Mel
