Hello strangers!
I’ll be honest-with summer in full effect and our friends visiting last weekend from San Diego, I haven’t really set aside any time for blog pics. There’s just have been other interests that has made me abandon my blogging responsibilities these past few weeks. But I haven’t forgotten! I’m back and actually feeling reenergized in my blogging responsibilities.
With that said, my friend and I found this amazing skirt doing one of our shopping crawls through my neighborhood. We used to do them in San Diego and it was a great way to spend some girl time and also see the stores that are around me here. I love the length and just the shape of the skirt, and of course it’s blue and white striped so you can’t go wrong with a classic print. I paired it with this red and blue top for a mixed print, stylish look I love. Its going to be my go-to outfit for our anniversary dinner next week with friends! August is going to have a lot going on for us-it starts with our 11 year wedding anniversary, my 37th (wth?!) birthday, our 1st year anniversary as Buffalonians, and my hubs starts his second year of graduate school. Just a few more years left before he’s done with classes and our next adventure TBD begins. Crazinesss!
I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!
Much love,
Mel

Happy Monday!
I know that I have been sporadic with the blog posts so I apologize! There’s just been so much going on. This is our final few days in California. We started in San Diego and are now staying with my sister-in-law outside of San Francisco. I’m so excited to go and explore the city and maybe do a little shopping with my husband. It’s one of his favorite things to do. 😉
We have had parties on each of the weekends that we have been out west so when I was planning what to pack, I knew that I only wanted to try for one dress that could be versatile for both events-plus being on vacation I wanted something that wouldn’t deny me my vacation food pleasures! I saw this number at Anthropologie on their sale rack and it fit exactly what I had in mind. I added the white blazer to give it a little bit of structure and my heels, which in light of how much standing I did, only lasted a few hours before I switched to flats. Either way, I felt fabulous and received multiple compliments, which made the parties even better. 🙂
Much love,
Mel

Hello friends!
In the continuing story of our Aunt and Uncle roles, the hubs and I attended our niece Chloe’s first dance recital yesterday afternoon. Sitting amongst friends and family, it’s crazy to think that we have started this stage of our lives-the ‘childrens events’ stage. Where has the time gone?! I’m not even a parent and yet I find myself saying more and more “Slow down! You’re growing up too fast!” to all the little people in my life. Especially since my husband and I are still trying to grow up ourselves!
So while I ruminated about how time truly is speeding by, I also realized that I had no clue what one actually wore to a dance recital. Could I get away with a tulle skirt as well, as I’ve seen other bloggers wear, or would they think I was part of the show?! So after conferring with Chloe’s mom, my bestie, I decided to play it easy and came up with the outfit that you see here. The blazer was perfect so that I wouldn’t get cold, and the rest of the outfit loose and stylish enough in case I had to tackle a dance mom. And no, I don’t know WHY I would have to tackle her but I just wanted to wear the appropriate thing in case it was necessary. It is the world of dance after all. 😉
Much love,
Mel
PS->make sure you check my Instagram daily as we are heading back to California for two glorious weeks, starting Tuesday, and we plan on stocking up on as much mexican food as we can. 🙂

One of the things that I have learned from winter officially taking hold over us, is that my best laid blog plans should really be scrapped. Although it’s been bitterly cold, there has been very little snow so I had originally planned on a dress today. That was silly. And normally we do take the blog pics ahead of time but truthfully I haven’t been feeling 100% so my time has been spent on the couch mostly, trying to get back to normal. Hence victims of Mother Nature’s wrath.
We are currently having white out conditions and the wind…the wind is fiercely blowing so not only is a dress out of the question, nothing but my Sorel’s would be appropriate footwear for either.
We left early to run some errands and I am now so glad that we got back home before the weather worsened. Since it is 14 degrees out (a bump from yesterday’s 8!), triple layers were required. And color. Gotta have color no matter what!
Happy Thursday!
Much love,
Mel

Happy Tuesday!
This post is a major milestone for me. I am not a big shorts person but sometimes they’re the only things that will do in warm weather. As such, I almost never get photographed in them. I hate my thighs. There. That’s my confession of the day. So consider this a groundbreaking post that I’m allowing you to see me in shorts. 🙂 Â
*NOTE-Yes, I’ve been photographed in bermuda’s for a blog post previously, but those are longer so I consider them a different class. The anti-thigh showing class. Â
I’ve also posted these shorts before, but not on me, so I wanted to show you how I pair them on the days where I’m brave enough to go out in the world.Â
Much love,Â
Mel
