During the holiday season, more often than not, most of the events we go to tend to be on the lower key side, rather than something more formal. And it also can be cold. So I’ve worked to combine both warmth and comfort with holiday sparkle.

This outift has quickly become one of my favorites because it meets all the criteria. A simple sweater and jeans but wait! There’s more! A chiffon pleated back on the sweater and glam elements-like these pointed toe sparkly flats from Sole Society and my blingy necklace. Talk about a kicked up casual outfit and perfect for any lower key holiday events. Add in a cute snakeskin bag and the only thing missing is the spiked eggnog…mmmm eggnog. ‘Tis the season!

Much love,

Mel

My husband decided to treat me with an early Christmas present so that I could enjoy it as soon as possible and not wait until next year to wear it. It’s like he gets me.

Because the sweater is correct-I DO want it all. Not the material things, per se, although I am a fashion fiend so yes there are some things I dream about, but more in life I want it all. I want to be successful in a job that I love doing, I want to be able to see and spend time with my friends and family on both coasts, I want a happy life-or really the continuance of one because I’m pretty grateful for the life I have now. I want to have those mind blown moments where you look around and pinch yourself to make sure that it’s all real.

This year has been trying. A lot of change. A lot of moments of total self-doubt. Of doubting our decision to move. Of doubting every decision we have taken to get us on this path we’re on now. But I have  to remain positive. Change can only lead to growth and new opportunities and we just have to hang on and trust the ride.

So heck yeah, Santa, I do want it all. And perhaps an unlimited Starbucks card just to help see me through… 😉

Much love,

Mel

Tonight is our first holiday party of the season! It’s for my husband’s Philosophy department so it will be definitely a little more low key, and it’s at a bar so think pretty casual. It IS the holidays however so although I would normally wear jeans and a blazer, I decided to do a festive casual. A simple green shift dress with a comfy cream sweater over. As the low is supposed to be 27 degrees tonight, I have opted for tights and booties-no bare legs until April in this town!

It goes against my nature to be attending any party without some glam, so I have opted for one of my statement necklaces with a little bling to it. Throw on my trilby, a fun statement ring, and we’re ready for a party!

Much love,

Mel
