Hello strangers!

I’ll be honest-with summer in full effect and our friends visiting last weekend from San Diego, I haven’t really set aside any time for blog pics. There’s just have been other interests that has made me abandon my blogging responsibilities these past few weeks. But I haven’t forgotten! I’m back and actually feeling reenergized in my blogging responsibilities.

With that said, my friend and I found this amazing skirt doing one of our shopping crawls through my neighborhood. We used to do them in San Diego and it was a great way to spend some girl time and also see the stores that are around me here. I love the length and just the shape of the skirt, and of course it’s blue and white striped so you can’t go wrong with a classic print. I paired it with this red and blue top for a mixed print, stylish look I love. Its going to be my go-to outfit for our anniversary dinner next week with friends! August is going to have a lot going on for us-it starts with our 11 year wedding anniversary, my 37th (wth?!) birthday, our 1st year anniversary as Buffalonians, and my hubs starts his second year of graduate school. Just a few more years left before he’s done with classes and our next adventure TBD begins. Crazinesss!

I hope everyone has a wonderful Monday!

Much love,

Mel

Hello!

So today a great thing is happening, our friends arrive today from San Diego!!! Are you noticing the overuse of exclamation marks? That’s because I want you to feel how excited I am. 🙂

As I mentioned previously, we have a whole agenda planned for their stay in Buffalo, and one of the fun things we are doing is heading to see a Bisons game on Friday night. We then are planning on taking them to one of our favorite neighborhood haunts for some good old-fashioned Buffalo chicken wings. Because it’s Buffalo, obvi, and how do you NOT have chicken wings while here?!

So I wanted my outfit to be cute and stylish but also give me some room to power down all the food I will be shoveling into my mouth during the game and after. This flowy top and my new comfy jeans from Madewell fit the bill. The only thing that may change is my shoes cause I know that we will be doing a lot of walking…to the concession stand to the OTHER concession stand…to the bar… You get the point. 😉

Much love,

Mel

Happy Wednesday!

I love having outfits that I can wear to work that I don’t have to put any effort into. In fact, I have tried to build my closet so that even if I oversleep I can go and just grab something with very little thought and still feel confident in what I’m wearing.

This outfit is a great example of this. Not overly complicated, but still stylish and pulled together. It took me more time to actually get out of bed then it did to get dress-that’s a win in the morning!

I just have to mention how in love I am with my new shoes-these pointed-toe Sam Edelman flats have been a dream come true. I love it when a pair of shoes fit perfectly-I may not be Cinderella, but I got me some glass slippers. 😉

Much love,

Mel

Happy Thursday Everyone!

One of my goals as a wardrobe stylist is to ensure that every piece in my clients wardrobe evokes a feeling of confidence and empowerment. I mean, in a perfect world pajamas would make every one of us proactive and confident, and who knows, if you’re someone who can take on the world wearing pjs, then kudos! But for the majority, the only thing that pajamas makes us confident of is that the couch or bed are in our immediate future. And maybe some Netflix bingewatching to feel like we’ve done SOMETHING with our day. 😉

Every time I wear this lace pencil skirt, I feel that sense of empowerment. I know I’m damn good at what I do and I have the confidence to move forward, in both aspects of my professional career. Hopefully you have something that evokes confidence in you too, if not, best get to shopping.

Much love,

Mel

Happy Thursday, friends!

Last August my husband and I embarked on our journey east to relocate in Buffalo, NY from our beloved home of San Diego. Part of our relocation was me venturing out onto my own and officially starting my wardrobe and styling consultation business. As much as I love working for myself, over the months I have realized that I am a social creature. I need to be around people. And more importantly, I like the ability to buy something without fear or hesitation of what my bank account looks like. So although my business is growing, which I’m thrilled about, it’s not enough currently to help subsidize the goals and wants of my husband and myself. Therefore, starting next week I re-enter the corporate world. It’s going to be a culture shock for sure. I have grown to cherish working at my own pace and setting my own schedule, but I’m starting to really cherish the idea of owning our own house and rebuilding the bank account even more.

The future is looking bright for the Murray’s and what better way to display my cheer? Happy pandas-naturally.

Much love,

Mel

Confession. Sometimes even those who are self-proclaimed fashionistas have off days. Where an outfit that seems right in concept, doesn’t translate into a finished product you can be happy with. This outfit is an off day for me. And yes, I understand that you probably don’t want to see off days, but for me, part of having this blog is to show you that every oufit, style, etc., is a learning opportunity for the next time. And despite what I may believe and drill into my husband’s head, I’m not perfect…well, let’s say I’m at about 90/10. 😉

So why is this outfit off for me? Well for starters, I just recently lost some weight in my belly, which on this dress leaves the stomach area a little poufy from the excess room. The hubs and I had to do a little maneuvering so that it didn’t come through in the pics. I also think that I had some kind of breakdown when it came to my hair- why the sidebraid? With the hat? I didn’t know quite what I wanted to do with my hair, so that happened. Bah.

This should have been a great weekend stroll outfit, but it was meant for someone else to pull it off. Thankfully tomorrow is a new day!

Much love,

Mel

Feeling French, Featuring Stella & Dot

Happy Monday!

There is just something about this outfit that when I put it on (and please forgive my ridiculous white legs!), I feel that I need to be at a french cafe or bistro in Paris. Just watching the people strolling by, while I nibble on some cheese and baguette and sip some wine, before we’re off wandering the Parisian streets. Sigh. Doesn’t that just sound lovely?

Until then, me and my white legs will be in Buffalo, soaking up the Spring air and as much Vitamin D we can. This week I’m showcasing some of the more delicate pieces from Stella & Dot, like this gold cuff that I’ve been loving and the bar necklace, which we actually bought and had engraved for my MIL for her birthday. Sometimes simplicity in your accessories makes a bigger impact, then going all out. Either of these pieces are a must, especially for those who don’t feel comfortable with arm stacks or may work in an environment where less is more.

Go ahead. Treat yourself.

Much love,

Mel

Dear Thursday, How lovely to see you!

I have been one of the those people who has always loved wearing pearls. Not what you may be thinking, like your grandma’s pearls, but just more modern takes on it. There is just something classy that emulates from them. So when I saw this necklace from Stella & Dot naturally I said give me. 🙂 I won’t lie-it is a little heavier of a necklace so if you are not used to it or a big fan of heavier statement pieces, than this is not going to be for you. BUT if you don’t have a problem with those things, then get thee to the Stella & Dot site and grab this piece, cause it’s amazing.

This cuff is perfect for everyone who likes a statement piece of jewelry but who may not necessarily like to stack their wrists full of bracelets. I love it’s simplicity and the ability to go with business casual pieces to every day jeans and a shirt.

Do you spy the green tote that I’ve been obsessed with all week? I told you that it goes with everything! Yes, if you have checked it out online, it is $138 so a little more than many of you normally spend, BUT with Stella & Dot there are a few ways you can get it for less. Most importantly, it is just a great investment buy because you can use it for everything and for almost every outfit.

Stay tuned next week for my next round of Stella & Dot features!

Much love,

Mel
