Happy Wednesday!

I love having outfits that I can wear to work that I don’t have to put any effort into. In fact, I have tried to build my closet so that even if I oversleep I can go and just grab something with very little thought and still feel confident in what I’m wearing.

This outfit is a great example of this. Not overly complicated, but still stylish and pulled together. It took me more time to actually get out of bed then it did to get dress-that’s a win in the morning!

I just have to mention how in love I am with my new shoes-these pointed-toe Sam Edelman flats have been a dream come true. I love it when a pair of shoes fit perfectly-I may not be Cinderella, but I got me some glass slippers. 😉

Karaoke

One of our favorite things to do with friends San Diego is reserve a private room at a karaoke bar, order a few drinks, and let our hearts sing! So we decided that that was exactly what we were going to do while back visiting. We’re going to head to one of our favorite noodle bars beforehand so I need an outfit that will work for both scenarios and keep me comfortable-you can get really warm in those karaoke rooms!

Now that I’ve decided on what to wear, what to eat and sing?!

Sunday Recitals (OOTD)

Hello friends!

In the continuing story of our Aunt and Uncle roles, the hubs and I attended our niece Chloe’s first dance recital yesterday afternoon. Sitting amongst friends and family, it’s crazy to think that we have started this stage of our lives-the ‘childrens events’ stage. Where has the time gone?! I’m not even a parent and yet I find myself saying more and more “Slow down! You’re growing up too fast!” to all the little people in my life. Especially since my husband and I are still trying to grow up ourselves!

So while I ruminated about how time truly is speeding by, I also realized that I had no clue what one actually wore to a dance recital. Could I get away with a tulle skirt as well, as I’ve seen other bloggers wear, or would they think I was part of the show?! So after conferring with Chloe’s mom, my bestie, I decided to play it easy and came up with the outfit that you see here. The blazer was perfect so that I wouldn’t get cold, and the rest of the outfit loose and stylish enough in case I had to tackle a dance mom. And no, I don’t know WHY I would have to tackle her but I just wanted to wear the appropriate thing in case it was necessary. It is the world of dance after all. 😉

Happy Friday!!

As you may have already noticed, I’m a big fan of this Anthropologie skirt I received last Christmas. Yes, I know that it’s cream so it’s easy to pair anyway, but I love putting more and more of my closet with it, like this floral top I’ve had for a few years by Boden. It’s amazing to watch how people who deal with seasons adjust their wardrobes accordingly. In the winter, dark colors really took over for the majority of the time but whether the snow was melted or not, by March you would see flashes of color start to emerge. I could technically wear this top in the winter with a cardigan, but as I mentioned, florals seem so out of place, so I’m glad that I have found another pairing for it for the summer besides jeans.

Happy Thursday Everyone!

One of my goals as a wardrobe stylist is to ensure that every piece in my clients wardrobe evokes a feeling of confidence and empowerment. I mean, in a perfect world pajamas would make every one of us proactive and confident, and who knows, if you’re someone who can take on the world wearing pjs, then kudos! But for the majority, the only thing that pajamas makes us confident of is that the couch or bed are in our immediate future. And maybe some Netflix bingewatching to feel like we’ve done SOMETHING with our day. 😉

Every time I wear this lace pencil skirt, I feel that sense of empowerment. I know I’m damn good at what I do and I have the confidence to move forward, in both aspects of my professional career. Hopefully you have something that evokes confidence in you too, if not, best get to shopping.

Colorful Change Up

Hello again, friends!

Sorry for the delay. The weather was not cooperating for blog pics and quite frankly, neither was my day-to-day life.

Although I do tend to add a fair amount of new pieces into my wardrobe every season, I do make a concientious effort to keep some of my older pieces in rotation. One of the ways I do this is by ensuring that when I buy something, I know it can be pieced a multitude of ways. Take this dress for instance, I’ve worn it to weddings, wine events, and just to dinner. The only thing I’ve changed is the shoes and if/what I wear over it. Here I’ve made it a little more casual by throwing on my denim jacket. If we were walking some place, I would wear my flat sandals and not heels. Easy peasy. A dress for everything. What’s in your closet?!

Springtime Lemons

Greetings friends!

Don’t Monday holidays sometimes feel like a mixed-blessing? Sure, it makes Sunday that more relaxing-knowing you have an extra day to play around, but then there’s Tuesday. Man, oh man, Tuesdays are just like a superstorm of Monday and Tuesday’s crazy combined! Good for you if you can make it through a post-holiday Tuesday without channeling your happy place at least once.

This past Monday, the hubs and I took a slight roadtrip to Toronto. We have family there that we wanted to see, and of course run a few errands and try a new brewery. On our way there we stopped at one of my favorite towns, Niagara-on-the-Lake. I went there for the first time on my 16th birthday with my mom and from that point, it has held a special place in my heart.

Since it’s one of my happy places, it felt only natural to wear one of my new happy tanks from Anthropologie. This has special meaning as my hubs bought it for me as a “Congrats on the New Job” gift, so it’s double the happiness.

Happy Memorial Day! *If you haven’t done so already-make sure you take the time today to remember all those in the military who died protecting us and our freedom.*

Hi folks! This weekend, like most of our weekends since the weather has been warmer, has been action-packed. On Sunday, my hubs ran his second half-marathon and nailed it. Besting his first time by 10 minutes. I’m so proud of him and yet still have no desire to join him for this running thing. 🙂

While he still had the ability to move, we went to one of our favorite breweries around town, Hamburg Brewery. The brewery itself is an old barn turned into a fantastic place for a bite and brew in front of their massive stone fireplace during the colder months. The summer months they have this amazing patio with a pond and a fountain that just makes it so relaxing. Since the sun was shining and we refuse to be indoors during the warmer months, we found ourselves out on their patio watching the coy swim around, while we both enjoyed a beer.

As we were leaving, we decided to take some pics of the outfit I had on that day. It was just too pretty out to pass on the opportunity, despite only having our phones with us. Sometimes you just have to seize the day!

Evenings at the Park

One of the highlights of the summer that we are looking forward to here in Buffalo is Shakespeare in the Park. Yes, we love our Shakespeare. We’re nerdy like that. We always tried to attend one of the Shakespeare performances at the Old Globe in San Diego every summer so it is only natural that we try to carry on our traditon here.

Unlike the Old Globe, our understanding is that these performances truly take place in the park so we will be picnic-ing while watching the performance. That requires a whole different dress-so I’ve chosen my stylish but versatile look. A lace top and a statement necklace to keep it pretty, while jeans and flat sandals to ensure my comfort and ability to walk on the grass. A crossbody for my phone and wallet and done!

Happy Wednesday Friends! I’m excited that we’re halfway done with the week-not only because it’s a holiday weekend but I get my first paycheck with the new job and after spending 10 months budgeting our limited funds, it’s a big relief to know that we will have steadier income. And let’s be real, it’s a holiday weekend and I’m ready to update my wardrobe with some sales…in a completely smart and effective manner. 😉

My work wardrobe tends to be made mostly of neutral colors with my accessories or shoes being more colorful, that’s why on the weekends I tend to dress a little brightly. This is my errand running, lunch getting outfit. And yes, I have scenarios for many of my outfits. Don’t you?! It helps me with the “what should I wear-I have nothing!” problems in my life.

Everything is better with color. Stamped.
